AFRICAN AMERICAN AND LABOR

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” — Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

God says:
“Bring Me what weighs you down… and I’ll carry it.”
Life has a way of placing weight on our shoulders—unexpected bills, family stress, health concerns, or even silent battles we don’t tell anyone about. Anxiety comes naturally. Peace does not. And that’s exactly why Paul writes this verse: not to shame us for feeling anxious, but to show us a better path when anxiety tries to take over.

Paul isn’t writing this from a beach house or a place of comfort. He’s writing from prison. Yet he’s telling us today—every situation — big, small, in-between — is an opportunity to hand something over. You don’t have to figure it out first. You don’t need polished words. Just honest ones. Prayer is not a performance; it’s a transfer of burden.

He also then slips in that extra ingredient: thanksgiving. Why?
Because gratitude shifts your focus from what’s overwhelming you to the one who’s holding you. It reminds your heart of His track record. It gently whispers, “He did it before… He’ll do it again.”

So today, whatever is buzzing in the back of your mind, whatever you’re carrying in your chest, God is offering you a divine trade:
Your fear → His strength
Your worry → His wisdom
Your anxiety → His peace
You’re not meant to walk around overloaded. Lay it down. One request, one prayer, one sigh at a time. God listens. God responds. God gives peace — not the kind the world gives, but the kind that settles your soul.

SHARE YOUR FAITH!
What is the one thing causing you stress right now? Take a moment. Name it. Release it to God in prayer.

LET US PRAY!
Lord, You see everything that weighs on our hearts. Today we choose trust over anxiety. Teach us to bring every situation to You—with honesty and with thanksgiving. Fill us with Your peace that goes beyond understanding.
In Jesus’ name,
AMEN!
