Have you ever stopped to consider how close God truly is to you?
In 1 Kings 19:11-13, we find Elijah standing on a mountain, waiting for God to reveal Himself. He expects something grand and overwhelming, perhaps in the powerful wind that tears at the rocks, or in the earthquake that shakes the ground, or even in the fire that blazes before him. Yet God doesn’t appear in any of those. Instead, He speaks in a gentle whisper, a still small voice that requires Elijah to lean in and listen. This moment turns our expectations upside down. The Creator of the universe, who could command attention with thunder, chooses intimacy instead.
Today, take a step back from the rush of your life and think about where God might be whispering to you. It could be in the quiet beauty of a sunrise, the unexpected kindness of a friend, or a subtle stirring in your soul. What distractions keep you from hearing Him? Try this: find five minutes today to sit in silence, no phone or noise, just you and God. Ask Him, ‘What are You saying to me right now?’
Reflect on the idea that His nearness doesn’t depend on your ability to feel it. He’s closer than your next breath, woven into the fabric of your day. How might recognizing this change the way you move through the world? The Bible reveals a God who delights in being near His people. Let that truth sink in and shape your perspective today.
LET US PRAY!
Heavenly Father, we approach You from a place of neither spiritual high nor low. In this middle ground, teach us to appreciate the value of consistency in our walk with You. Help us to see that faith isn’t just about emotional peaks but about the daily choice to trust and follow. May this quiet steadiness become a foundation upon which deeper connection can grow.
In Jesus’ name,
AMEN!
