“Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.” – James 4:8[KJV]
James 4:8 gives us a simple but powerful invitation: come closer to God.
Sometimes we feel distant from God, but the problem isn’t that God has moved away. Life can become busy, distractions can grow, and sin can create distance in our hearts. Yet God continues to invite us back.
Drawing near to God means intentionally seeking Him—through prayer, Scripture, worship, repentance, and obedience. It means making room for God even when we don’t feel spiritually strong.
The beautiful promise is that when we draw near to God, He draws near to us. God isn’t waiting for us to become perfect before approaching Him. He wants us to come as we are, surrender our hearts, and allow Him to transform us.
REFLECTION:
Ask Yourself:
– Am I intentionally making time to draw closer to God?
– What distractions are pulling me away from Him?
– Is there something I need to surrender to God today?
– You don’t have to wait for God to come looking for you. Take the first step toward Him—He is already waiting with open arms.
LET US PRAY!
Draw nigh nearer precious Lord! Help us to draw closer to You. Remove the distractions and anything that keeps our hearts distant from You. Give us a desire for Your Word, prayer, worship, and righteousness. When we feel far away, remind us that You are still near. Help us to surrender completely and walk with You each day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
